CURRICULUM
Curriculum
encompasses course guidelines established by the Diocese of San Diego that
includes state and national standards. In keeping with our school philosophy,
Mission Statement and School Wide Learning Expectations we encourage the
students of St. Charles Borromeo Academy to become
life long learners.
Religion Program: The educational mission of the Church, and the
reasonable expectations of parents, require that the Catholic school be
distinguished by an atmosphere and a formal program that relates religious
beliefs and practices with the moral development and education of
children. Second
grade children are prepared to receive the sacraments, parental involvement is necessary. Mandatory meetings are
held for parents whose children are preparing for the reception of the
sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist to assist in their
understanding of our Religion program. As a Catholic school, we recognize that
there is no greater opportunity for parent-directed religious education than
attendance at Sunday Mass. It is paramount that families attend Mass on a
regular basis. The school will make opportunities available for students to
participate in liturgies, and penance services throughout the school year.
Students attend Mass each Friday at 8am.
Core Knowledge: The school has implemented aspects of the Core
Knowledge curriculum in grades K-6. The school follows California State Standards
and Diocese of San Diego curriculum guides. Implementation of the CORE
Knowledge curriculum is grade and subject specific.
Academic Program: The academic curriculum of the academy is designed
to prepare our students to achieve success. Therefore, our program is intended
to help all students of varying abilities to meet or exceed grade level
expectations. The faculty and staff at St. Charles Borromeo
Academy endeavor to provide a quality education for each student.
Physical Education: All
students in grades K - 8 are required to participate in the P.E. program.
Students who need to be exempt from these classes must present a written
statement from their doctor to the classroom teacher and the P.E. instructor,
describing the physical activity restrictions and the length of time of the
restriction Students must be in proper attire on the days scheduled for P. E. A
student’s P.E. grade will be based on participation, conduct, and progression
of skills. The P.E. program has been designed with the following goals in mind
for all grade levels:

ST. CHARLES BORROMEO ACADEMY TUITION
The pastor,
principal, School Board, determined the tuition rate to meet the financial
needs of the academy and to make Catholic education as affordable as possible.
The rates listed below incorporate cost of living increases and the estimated
cost to the academy to educate each child.
We require
all families to sign a Tuition Agreement Form. Families may pay tuition in full
to the school office by August 1. The academy manages the accounts of those
families choosing monthly payments through FACTS, a tuition management plan,
which automatically withdraws tuition from your checking or savings account.
The Academy
office will verify parishioner status with parish records. St. Charles Borromeo parishioners must be active in the parish for one
year prior to receiving the parish rate. Families without a parish school
please provide a letter from your pastor or a contribution statement from your
